Sex, Drugs and Economics....
Is a very insightful book - but a difficult one to ask for in a bookshop...(I was making moral stand against Amazon - luckily I hate Starbucks and never got into eBay). Do you stock 'Sex, Drugs and Economics'?" Was my opening gambit. The sales assistant gave me one if those looks as if I was either mad, bad, or just dangerous to know. My feeble 'It is a book , honestly...' was met with a disbelieving stare. Thank goodness the computer proved me right - but not until a huge queue had built up behind me, all tutting and muttering - and yes it was cheaper on Amazon!

Dear Lady, I may have been ahead of the same queue whilst at a large, well known book emporium in Canterbury whilst trying to purchase "Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns". Having been greeted with the blank, bemused, uncomfortable looks from the shop "assistant" and being aware of the shuffling, muttering and veritable self-crossing from behind me, left sans reading material and couldn't help but be reminded of something Anais Nin said;
